Joining PBS4
We are keen that you have every assistance to help you settle into your role quickly. Your induction programme includes a local induction to the person you are supporting. This should take approximately 12 weeks to complete and should give you all you need to know about the person, where they live, their support plans and risk management plans, our policies, and where to go if you need help.
Alongside this, we have a face-to-face induction too. This compromises of two days of pre-recorded PBS4 learning, through Google Classroom, a two day face to face virtual Microsoft Teams induction, PROACT-SCIPr-UK training, and First Aid training (if applicable).
Throughout this, you will learn about Positive Behaviour Support, active support, safe use of physical interventions, our day-to-day operations, and more to welcome you to the organisation and get you living and breathing our vision and values!
You will be booked to attend this in through our on-boarding team and you will need to complete induction within 8 weeks of being with PBS4.
Here is a quick introduction from our training team on what is expected from you and what you can expect from PBS4.
Hello and firstly, welcome to PBS4
We are excited for you to begin your journey with us and have a great induction programme for you to get started with from day one!
You will be given access to our Google Classroom via a link to your work email address. This will allow you access to our 2 days or pre-recorded PBS4 material, it is up to you to decide the order you will work through these. However, they must all be completed before attending face to face PROACT-SCIPr-UK training. This is mandatory to meet the RRN and organisational requirements.
We hold our face-to-face virtual induction via Microsoft Teams once a month, which usually is around the third week of the month. We look forward to meeting you there! If not before at PROACT-SCIPr-UK.
If you have any questions about the induction process, or accessing training materials, please do not hesitate to contact: training@pbs4.org.uk

On joining PBS4 you will serve a 6-month probationary period. This is to evaluate if you are the right employee for us, and if we are the right employee for you. We would always discuss with you if you do not appear to be effective in your role and try to find resolutions before taking action. We request that our employees do the same for us and try to discuss anything they are finding challenging.
There are clear expectations made during the probationary period that must be completed in order for you to pass your probation. If you do not reach the standards required your employment may be terminated with one week’s notice. We do all we can to avoid this happening. PBS4 reserves the right to extend the probationary period where required.
To help us to assist you and safely employ you it is essential that all information on your personnel records is complete, correct and up to date. Please inform your line manager of any changes in your personal circumstances and contact details by completing these changes on your PeopleHR account. For changes to bank details please amend this on the system and email Payroll@pbs4.org.uk
Your personal information is confidential and will not be released to outside sources without your prior authorisation. If you would like to see our privacy notice on how we use your data it can be found here.
All employees are required to complete a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) and this must be completed prior to commencement of work. This is to identify if you have any criminal convictions that may increase the risks of vulnerability to the people we support. If the criminal record check comes back with convictions included your line manager will review this with you. You are not permitted to work alone with vulnerable people until we have back your DBS.
Our policy is for PBS4 completed DBS’ to be checked every three years. Ideally your PBS4 DBS has been registered on the update service within 30 days of it being issued. You have the option to select for it to automatically renew or for you to manually put it on again each year. It is your responsibility to make sure it’s renewed and for the invoice to saved in your expenses folder along with being logged on your expenses sheet.
Externally completed DBS’ will be checked annually to make sure that they’re on the update service still. You can keep track of your DBS certificates you register on the update service by logging back into your account.
Please note: this is an external service to PBS4, if you have any questions regarding your update service registration and DBS’ registered please contact The Disclosure & Barring Service on: 03000 200 190
Any DBS’ outside of the policy timeframes or due to expire and not on the update service, you will be contacted via email and asked to complete a new one with us. The link to uCheck and guidance on how to complete the DBS application will be provided, along with the list of all the relevant documents that we need for you to provide in person to be verified.
